About Germany
Samuel Holyoke's setting of this well-known Latin text is for STB voices. The words, from Psalm 113, offer praise to the Lord and speak of his power and his mercy, lifting the poor and making the barren woman a joyful mother. The text is sung in both Latin and English, presenting a challenge and an opportunity for choirs to engage with the scriptural message in two languages. This sacred work is a fine example of devotional music, suitable for services or concerts where a profound and uplifting message is desired.
