Horst Hinze's SATB setting of Freude, Freude überall opens with a jubilant musical celebration of Christ's birth. The voices enter with bright exclamations, soon weaving together in a rich texture that reflects the joyous news. The German text rejoices in the arrival of the Lord, drawing imagery from the star of Bethlehem and the angelic Gloria. This sacred Christmas piece builds to a powerful declaration of thanks and liberation, concluding with an exultant 'Halleluja'.
