Fleur de quinze ans by Orlando di Lasso — Lyrics

About Fleur de quinze ans
Orlando di Lasso's Fleur de quinze ans is a secular French chanson for SATB choir. The text, opening with a playful recounting of the stages of courtship, describes the five points of love, beginning with a glance and progressing through speech, a kiss, touch, and finally, a coy invitation. The chanson is set to a lively and engaging melody, characteristic of the Renaissance part-song tradition. This arrangement offers a delightful opportunity for choirs to explore the expressive and often humorous side of Renaissance secular music, presenting a charming exploration of youthful affection.
