About En son Temple sacré
En son Temple sacré opens with a bright and joyful Alleluja, setting a mood of exultation. The music is written for a five-part choir (SSATB), providing a rich palette for exploring the text. The composer Jacques Mauduit weaves the Latin words of praise into a vibrant anthem, sung in alternation with French refrains. The Latin text, drawn from Psalm 150, calls for instruments and voices to laud the Lord in his sanctuary and firmament. Mauduit’s setting reflects this call to widespread praise, with sections of flowing polyphony and moments of striking declamation, all building towards a powerful conclusion.
