En las riberas (Part 1) by Pedro Ruimonte — Lyrics
About En las riberas (Part 1)
This secular Spanish madrigal for SSATTB voices, En las riberas (Part 1), evokes a poignant scene of isolation. The text describes a lone Portuguese man on the furthest shores of Spain, unable to bear his own company, his sorrow amplified by the unfamiliar land that casts him out. He turns to the sea, weeping, and implores the sacred waves to receive the remnants of a soul treated with ingratitude on land. He seeks refuge in the ocean's realm, as the very person who brought him to this point now denies him solace, urging the waves to bear witness to his faith and her harshness.
