About El dimoni escuat
This traditional Catalan folk song, El dimoni escuat, is arranged for SATB choir. The text, sung in Catalan, describes a charming Nativity scene where the baby Jesus is cold and shivering. The Virgin Mary laments his lack of warmth, and shepherds arrive to see him. A mischievous demon, drawn by the commotion, intrudes upon the scene. The shepherds, however, take matters into their own hands and give the demon a thorough thrashing, leaving him half-dead. This lively and humorous narrative makes for an engaging and characterful performance piece, particularly fitting for Christmas programming.
