About Ego Clamavi
Robert Hugill’s Ego Clamavi is written for SATTBB choir. The Latin text is drawn from the Psalms, expressing deep trust in God’s protection and a plea for deliverance. The music sets the words with a rich, resonant vocal texture, moving between homophonic declamation and more contrapuntal passages. The composer uses the eight parts to create a powerful sound world, exploring a range of dynamics and colours. It is an effective setting of sacred text, suitable for liturgical use as an entrance song.
