Ecce Virgo concipiet

The prophet Isaiah foretells a wondrous birth, announcing that a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, Immanuel, God with us. This text, set here in the original Hebrew alongside its Latin translation, speaks of the Advent promise of salvation. Johann Joseph Fux’s setting for SATB choir captures the sacred anticipation of this biblical prophecy. As a communion hymn, it offers a moment of reflection on the divine presence and the fulfillment of God's plan for humanity, drawing the singers and listeners into the mystery of the Incarnation through its devotional character and devotional setting.
