About Ecce sacerdos magnus
Moritz Brosig's Ecce sacerdos magnus is a setting for SATB choir of a Latin text taken from the Gradual for a Confessor Bishop. The music opens with a sense of noble grandeur, the voices building from unison to fuller textures. The text proclaims the greatness of a high priest who pleased God and was blessed by Him. Brosig's setting matches the solemnity and dignity of the words, creating music suitable for liturgical use. The inclusion of the Gloria Patri at the end provides a traditional conclusion to this powerful sacred work.
