Du bien de vous

Antonio Gardano's Du bien de vous is a secular French chanson for STTB voices. The music opens with a close imitation between the upper two voices, establishing a gentle, flowing mood. This gradually expands to include the lower voices, creating a rich texture that supports the expressive text. The poem speaks of finding solace and joy in the thought of a loved one, whose presence, even in absence, brings delight and lifts a heavy heart. Gardano’s setting captures this tender sentiment with a thoughtful interplay of lines and a warm harmonic language, making it an engaging work for a choir seeking a chanson with emotional depth and elegant vocal writing.
