About Donna ab'eterno
Don Remigio's Donna ab'eterno is a sacred laude for treble voices (SSB). Laude were devotional songs popular in Italy from the 13th century onwards, often set to popular tunes. This setting of an Italian text celebrates the life of the Virgin Mary, from her conception and birth through her presentation in the Temple and the Annunciation, to her role as the Mother of God. The lyrics describe her purity, her divine destiny, and her humble acceptance of God's will. The music would have been intended for private devotion or smaller, more intimate church services, reflecting the personal and heartfelt nature of the laude tradition.
