Discubuit Jesus

This striking sacred motet for three voices (STT) sets a passage from the Gospels, describing Jesus reclining with his disciples at the Last Supper and his poignant words, "With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer." The text continues with the institution of the Eucharist, "This is my body." The anonymous composer also weaves in a reference to the great feast of King Ahasuerus, from the Book of Esther, to highlight the richness of his kingdom. The Latin text lends a solemnity befitting the sacred occasion, making this an atmospheric choice for liturgical settings or reflective concerts.
