About Dievmātes litānija (latīņu melodija)
This is a traditional setting of the Litany of Loreto, a Marian devotion. The text is in Latin, sung here in Latvian translation, beginning with the supplication Kyrie, eleison. The composer is traditionally unknown, giving the work a timeless quality. It is sung by a solo voice (S) and falls into the category of sacred liturgical music. The litany progresses through invocations of the Trinity and a series of praises and titles for the Virgin Mary, seeking her intercession.
