Die beste Zeit by Robert Franz — Lyrics
1. Die beste Zeit im Jahr ist mein,
da singen alle Vögelein,
Himmel und Erden ist der voll,
viel gut Gesang, der lautet wohl.
2. Voran die liebe Nachtigall
macht alles fröhlich überall
mit ihrem lieblichen Gesang,
des muß sie haben immer Dank.

About Die beste Zeit
Robert Franz's Die beste Zeit is a joyful SATB setting of a German text that celebrates the beauty of spring and the songbirds, particularly the nightingale. The lyrics express delight in nature's music, attributing its creation to God and praising Him through song. The composer's music reflects this exuberance, creating a vibrant soundscape. This piece is well-suited for a spring concert or any occasion where a bright, uplifting choral sound is desired. It is presented here with both the original German and an English translation, allowing for flexibility in programming. The parts are engaging and idiomatic, making it a rewarding experience for mixed choirs.
