Day Is Done by Kenneth Langer — Lyrics
The day is done, thus wanes the sun. It blazes in gold before the dark fold that seems to last forever. And though we sigh a soft hushabye, we can all tell that we will be well because we are together.
About Day Is Done
Kenneth Langer's Day Is Done is a secular anthem for SAB choir. Its English text reflects on the passing of the day and the approach of darkness, yet finds solace and reassurance in togetherness. The music mirrors this sentiment, moving from moments of quiet reflection to a sense of collective well-being. This piece offers a compelling emotional journey for both singers and listeners, making it a poignant choice for concert programming. The composer effectively uses the SAB voicing to create rich harmonies that support the comforting message of the lyrics, making it a suitable anthem for a variety of occasions.
