About Da pacem
Giles Farnaby was an English composer of the late Renaissance. This setting of the prayer for peace, 'Da pacem', is for STTB voices. The English text pleads for divine protection during times of peril, when enemies seek to undermine true Christian faith. The composer's lyrical style is evident in this moving plea for God's help and preservation in the face of adversity. The solemn text is fitting for a devotional context, reflecting a deep reliance on God's strength and guidance.
