About Cheerfulness
John Paul Morgan’s Cheerfulness is a bright SATB setting of an English text celebrating the virtues of a positive disposition. The choir director will find this a rewarding choice for a secular concert programme, especially suitable for spring or summer events. The lyrics poetically describe how cheerfulness warms the heart, provides strength, and transforms hardship into ease. It is presented as a heavenly gift that guides us towards good. The composer captures this uplifting message with music that is likely to be engaging for both performers and listeners.
