About Carmen super Pange lingua
Adrianus Petit Coclico was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance. This setting of the Pange lingua text is for three voices (STT). The Latin text is a well-known eucharistic hymn, traditionally attributed to Thomas Aquinas, though this is a later setting. The music explores the mystery of the Body and Blood of Christ, from the Last Supper to the sacrifice of the Mass, emphasizing faith's sufficiency when human senses fail. This motet is a sacred work from the Renaissance tradition, suitable for liturgical settings.
