About Canzonetta viva sempre
Giovanni Gastoldi's Canzonetta viva sempre is a delightful secular Italian madrigal, perfect for a light-hearted moment in a concert programme. Composed for a six-part choir (SSSATB), the piece captures the effervescent spirit of the Renaissance part-song. The text expresses a singer's ardent desire to be etched into the heart of their beloved, just as they hold their beloved’s image sculpted within their own. Gastoldi's music mirrors this fervent emotion with lively rhythms and expressive harmonies, making it an engaging choice for choirs looking to showcase their agility and interpretive skill in Italian secular repertoire.
