About Brandford
Asahel Benham's Brandford is a sacred anthem for SATB choir, sung in English. The text expresses the deep yearning of a believer for assurance of salvation and the comforting presence of the Holy Spirit. It questions why a child of God should live in sorrow when divine consolation is available. The lyrics plead for the "Great Comforter" to descend, to provide tangible signs of grace, and to confirm the believer's adoption.
