Blessed is She

These words from the Gospel of Luke, spoken by Elizabeth to Mary, form the basis of this sacred anthem. Frances Matthews sets this beautiful text in English for SSAATB choir, a rich combination of voices that allows for a full and resonant sound. The composer's setting emphasizes the faith and trust expressed in the text, celebrating the certainty of divine promises. This piece offers a wonderful opportunity for a choir to explore expressive vocal colours and dynamics, bringing to life a message of profound spiritual significance and joyful anticipation. It is a moving reflection on belief and fulfillment.
