Blagoslovi, dushe moia, Gospoda

Dobri Hristov was a significant figure in Bulgarian choral music, a composer, conductor and musicologist who championed the development of Bulgarian choral traditions. His anthem Blagoslovi, dushe moia, Gospoda is set in Church Slavonic, the traditional liturgical language of the Orthodox Church. The text is a devotional praise, invoking God's greatness and wisdom in creation, and Hristov's setting for SSATTBB voices reflects this solemnity and grandeur. It draws on the rich heritage of Orthodox chant, adapted for a modern choral ensemble. This work is a powerful expression of faith, suitable for services and concerts aiming for profound spiritual resonance.
