Barcarole

The stillness of the night, the clarity of the air, and the moonbeams playing on the water are evoked in this Norwegian part-song. The text speaks of the gentle rocking of waves that lull the heart, bringing peace and freeing the burdened mind from sighs and laments. Composer Halfdan Kjerulf sets this serene scene for TTBBB voices, creating a tranquil atmosphere through rich harmonies and flowing melodic lines. This secular work captures the contemplative beauty of a moonlit night by the sea, offering a moment of calm reflection for both singers and listeners.
