Avejuela que al jazmin

A charming Spanish villancico from the Renaissance composer Manuel Machado, Avejuela que al jazmín is set for SSAB voices. The text paints a vivid pastoral scene, addressing a small bird that steals dew from jasmine and drinks nectar from the dawn. The composer urges the bird to cease its jealous pecking, to gather dew, and leave the flower undisturbed. This secular work, typical of its genre, offers a delightful and lighthearted subject, perfectly suited for a smaller vocal ensemble looking for a refreshing addition to their repertoire.
