About Ave verum
Charles Gounod's Ave verum is a sacred motet for SATB choir, sung in Latin. This setting of the traditional Eucharistic text, often used during services focusing on the Blessed Sacrament, offers a rich musical reflection on the sacrifice of Christ. The words, drawn from a medieval sequence, speak of the true body born of the Virgin Mary, who suffered and was immolated on the cross for humanity.
