Ave maris stella a 6 by Paolo Teodori — Lyrics
About Ave maris stella a 6
This setting of the Marian antiphon Ave maris stella is for six voices (SSATTB). The familiar Latin text, often sung during Marian feasts and throughout the liturgical year, addresses Mary as the star of the sea, mother of God, and gate of heaven. The composer's setting reflects the prayerful plea for peace, for the unburdening of sinners, and for guidance. The lyrics express profound reverence, asking Mary, the singular and gentle virgin, to intercede so that the faithful may be freed from sin, made pure and chaste, and ultimately rejoice in seeing Jesus. The composition concludes with a doxology to the Trinity, affirming the unity of honour given to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
