Auferstehungshistoria by Tobias Zeutschner — Lyrics
About Auferstehungshistoria
This German oratorio, Auferstehungshistoria, recounts the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as described by the evangelist Luke. The text opens with an invitation to hear the story, followed by the disciples' arrival at the empty tomb, their confusion, and the appearance of two men in shining garments who announce that Christ is risen. The composer Zeutschner sets this dramatic biblical narrative for a large double choir (SSATTB.SSATTB). The scale of the forces allows for a powerful and complex musical setting, reflecting the awe and wonder of the Easter event. This work is a significant example of German sacred oratorio from its period.
