About Audi benigne conditor
This setting of the familiar Lenten hymn Audi benigne conditor is for TTB voices. The Latin text, which is a standard office hymn, presents a plea for mercy during the sacred season of Quadragesima, or Lent. The choir director will find this well-suited for liturgical use during this penitential period. The lyrics express a heartfelt prayer for forgiveness of sins and spiritual cleansing, acknowledging human frailty and seeking divine grace for a repentant heart. The composer Giovanni Bonaventura Matucci crafts a devotional setting that resonates with the penitential themes of the text, offering a solemn and reflective musical experience for the choir and congregation alike.
