About Asperges me F Major
Karl Kempter’s Asperges me is a setting of the traditional Catholic antiphon, sung as the priest sprinkles the congregation with holy water. The Latin text is a plea for purification and mercy, invoking Psalm 51: “Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” It continues with a prayer for God’s mercy according to His great goodness, followed by the Gloria Patri. This SATB arrangement offers a rich harmonic setting for the sacred text, suitable for liturgical use or concert programming.
