Anzi via più by Jacquet de Berchem — Lyrics
Anzi via più che del disir, mi deggio

About Anzi via più
Anzi via più is a secular Italian madrigal for SATB choir by Jacquet de Berchem. The text speaks of deep regret and a lament for lost reason, which has been expelled from its rightful place. The poet describes a growing despair, a feeling of being swept from bad to worse, with no control or restraint. This inevitable descent leads only to death, a fate made more painful by the anticipation of its arrival. The expressive nature of the text is captured in this finely crafted Renaissance part-song.
