Angioletti dogliosi by Marcantonio Tornioli — Lyrics
Angioletti dogliosi ch'asciugate co' baci,
al mio Giesu le piaghe sue vivaci.
Messagieri pietosi, che di voi porta un mio sospir fra mille,
a le cadenti e sanguinose stille.

About Angioletti dogliosi
Marcantonio Tornioli’s Angioletti dogliosi sets a deeply devotional Italian text concerning the pains of Jesus. The music unfolds with delicate interplay between the three female voices (SSB), creating a sense of tender lament. The text petitions cherubic messengers to carry sighs and prayers to heaven, reflecting the sorrowful yet hopeful spirit of the words. Tornioli, a composer of both sacred and secular works, here crafts a piece that is both intimate and expressive, suitable for moments of contemplation and heartfelt devotion.
