Amor m'ha fatto by Giovanni Maria Nanino — Lyrics
About Amor m'ha fatto
Giovanni Maria Nanino was a composer of the late Renaissance, associated with the Roman school. This canzonetta for two sopranos and tenor, Amor m'ha fatto, is a secular work in Italian. The text uses the ingenious metaphor of a clock to express the lover's torment. Love has made him into a clock, with wheels of thought constantly turning, time relentlessly pursuing his desires, and jealousy striking the hours. The inner turmoil is so great that it is plainly visible on his face, a constant reminder of his suffering in the cloister of love.
