Amor, la tua virtute

Girolamo Scotto's Amor, la tua virtute is a secular madrigal for ATB voices. The music explores the fickle nature of love, contrasting earthly misunderstanding with divine enlightenment. The text laments that love's true power is not understood by mankind, who often pursue harm and flee from salvation. It suggests that if love's virtues were recognised as they are in a higher realm, human life would follow a wiser path. The three-part texture offers a clear and intimate setting for this thoughtful Italian text.
