About Amici pastori
Amici pastori is a sacred Italian Christmas song for two-part choir (SA). The text joyfully calls the shepherds to witness the birth of Jesus, describing the miraculous light that banishes darkness. It then transitions to a tender lullaby, urging the shepherds to be quiet so the Christ Child can rest. The composer contrasts the shepherds' initial exuberance with a gentler, more intimate expression of adoration. The lullaby sections, in particular, paint a serene picture of the infant Messiah, sung here in a charming arrangement for young or developing voices, perfect for the Christmas season.
