All Creatures of Our God and King

When we want to open a Sunday Mass with a true sense of majesty, "All Creatures of Our God and King" is one of those pieces that instantly lifts the spirit of the whole church. Based on the famous words of St. Francis of Assisi, this hymn calls on the sun, the moon, the rushing wind, and the flowing water to join us in praising the Creator.

This particular SATB arrangement by Amy Webb takes that classic melody and gives it a wonderful, driving energy. The piano accompaniment rolls forward with a bright, rhythmic momentum, supporting the choir as the vocal parts build. The verses flow naturally from unison lines into rich four-part harmony, making it incredibly engaging for the singers to rehearse and perform.

We often bring this out for Entrance or Recessional processions, especially on major feast days or during the Easter season. The cascading "Alleluias" at the end of each verse are an absolute joy to sing. When the sopranos soar on those high notes and the rest of the choir swells underneath them, it creates a massive, joyful sound that echoes right up to the rafters of the choir loft.
