Imagine a weary traveller, resting for a while after a long journey. This evocative part-song sets a text that invites us to linger in a peaceful, pastoral scene, shaded by pines and cooled by a gentle breeze. The music evokes the sounds of nature, with grasshoppers shouting and singing, and a shepherd playing his flute. The text suggests the presence of Pan, the god of the wild, as the wanderer is counselled to rest before continuing their journey.
