Adupe Baba

"Adupe Baba" is a bright and rhythmic Yoruba song of thanksgiving that naturally finds its home during the Offertory or as a joyful Entrance procession. Composed by Curis Mec. O'bede Anumata, the piece is built on a simple, profound gratitude for the everyday blessings that sustain life. When the choir strikes up the opening notes, it immediately invites the congregation into a space of joyful appreciation.

The lyrics walk through the tangible gifts of God's providence. The verses give thanks for the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the peace we enjoy, and the love God constantly shows us. By naming these ordinary but essential blessings—"Ounjẹ ti a n jẹ, Aṣọ ti a n wọ l'ara wa"—the song grounds our worship in real life. It reminds everyone in the pews that every good thing comes from the hands of the Lord.

Musically, the arrangement uses a call-and-response feel that is deeply rooted in Nigerian choral traditions.
