Ach alter mann was sächstu an

The composer Ivo de Vento crafts a lively German Lieder for SAATB voices. The music opens with imitative entries, quickly establishing a playful and energetic mood. The contrapuntal writing allows for a clear projection of the text, which presents a humorous dialogue. The singers are urged to abandon a foolish endeavor, with the implication that it is detrimental to one's health and beyond the help of any doctor. This is secular part-music from the Renaissance era, perfect for a choir seeking engaging and characterful repertoire.
