Accepit Jesus panes by Francisco Guerrero — Lyrics
About Accepit Jesus panes
This sacred antiphon by Francisco Guerrero sets a passage from the Gospels describing the miracle of the loaves and fishes. Jesus takes the bread, gives thanks, and distributes it to the crowd, feeding five thousand with just five loaves and two small fish. The text then turns to a prayer, "O good Jesus, you satisfied your family; may your grace satisfy us always." Guerrero’s setting is for double choir (SATB and ATBB), offering rich polyphonic possibilities and a dialogue between the two ensembles. The Latin text and the devotional theme make it suitable for liturgical use or as a reflective concert motet.
