About Abendlied
Jakob Heinrich Lützel's Abendlied is a sacred German TTBB four-part song. It is set to a text by Paul Gerhardt, one of the most important German hymn writers of the 17th century. The opening lines, 'Nun ruhen alle Wälder' (Now all the woods are resting), evoke a peaceful evening scene, with the whole world falling asleep. However, the text urges the singer's senses to awaken and praise their Creator.
