A Blessing by Martin Shaw — Lyrics
Go forth into the world in peace.
Be of good courage.
Hold fast that which is good.
Render to no one evil for evil.
Strengthen the fainthearted.
Support the weak.
Help the afflicted.

About A Blessing
Martin Shaw’s A Blessing is a moving anthem for SATB choir, setting a powerful English text that serves as a solemn yet uplifting send-off. The lyrics, drawn from traditional liturgical sources, offer a series of exhortations for living a virtuous and courageous life, culminating in a universally recognized Trinitarian blessing. The setting is designed to resonate with the solemnity and hope inherent in these words, making it suitable for services or concerts where a message of peace, strength, and divine presence is desired. The SATB voicing allows for rich harmonic textures and expressive choral writing, bringing the sacred text to life with dignity and warmth.
